METHOD FOR LOWEST MOISTURE CAPACITY DETERMINATION BY THE EXAMPLE OF BLACK EARTH AND CHESTNUT SOILS OF ROSTOV REGION

Abstract:

The purpose of the research is to develop a method of instrumental and analytical determination of the lowest moisture capacity of chernozem and chestnut soils of the steppe, dry-steppe and semi-desert natural and climatic zones of Rostov region. The achievement of this goal is provided by solving the problem of instrumental determination of soil physical characteristics and experimental dependencies describing the functional relationships between their parameters and the lowest soil moisture capacity. The bulk density and the content of physical clay and humus in it are considered as soil parameters having a decisive influence on the lowest soil moisture capacity value, The obtained three-factor experimental mathematical models help to predict (determine) the average profile and layer-by-layer values of the lowest soil moisture capacity by the considered physical soil characteristics. The technique allowing to predict the average profile and layer-by-layer values of the lowest soil moisture capacity by known values of physical clay, humus and bulk density content determined during soil-reclamation surveys (research) has been developed on the basis of obtained multifactoral mathematical models. The proposed method of instrumental and analytical predicting the lowest moisture capacity values greatly simplifies and reduces labour intensity to determine the specified hydrophysical soil characteristics used in design and operation of drip irrigation systems and other irrigation types. The structure of the obtained functional relationships and calculated dependencies can also be used for other natural-climatic zones of soil formation with appropriate adjustment of experimental coefficients and parameters.
