CALCULATION OF FIXING PLATES STRENGTH OF DOWNSTREAM IRRIGATION CANALS BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE ZERO WEIR OF GREAT STAVROPOL CANAL

Abstract:

The purpose of the research was to determine the strength of reinforced concrete slab slope protection in irrigation canals downstream (for example, the “zero” wire on the Great Stavropol Canal). The “zero” weir is located on the 34th kilometer of the Great Stavropol Canal first turn. In the initial period of the canal operation in the downstream of the blocking structures, downwash of reinforced concrete slope paving slabs began to appear. As a result, the plates began to slide to the bed, crack, crumble and break. All this was promoted by the wave impact from the “swaying” of the water level in the downstream of the structure. For a short period of the structure operation behind a rigid mounting, a pothole with a depth of 2.8 m was formed. The materials for achieving this goal were the results of field studies performed on this object. In a methodological sense, in order to determine the strength of fastening with reinforced concrete slabs, recommendations of codes of practice, reference data and methodological recommendations were used. Based on field studies of the state of the downstream of the “zero” weir, pressure contours of surge wave on the slope and backpressure diagrams were developed. According to the obtained numerical values, it was found that the thickness of the plates in natural conditions is sufficient. In this regard, the stability of the plates on "floating" and “overturning” is sufficient. Taking into account the recommendations of the codes, the loads acting on the reinforced concrete slabs of the slope paving were determined, and strength and cracking calculations were made, which showed that the accepted dimensions of the slabs meet the conditions of the regulatory documents.
