IMPROVEMENT OF THE RECLAMATION CONDITION OF DRAINED AGRICULTURAL LANDS OF THE POLDER MASSIF IN SLAVSKIY DISTRICT KALININGRAD REGION

Abstract:

The aim of the work was to analyze the reclamative state of the drained agricultural land, the ground water level regime and the technical condition of the polder's hydraulic structures, as well as the choice of measures for their improvement. The research materials were measurements carried out on a polder by the federal state unitary enterprise “Kaliningrad Hydrogeological, Reclamative and Scientific Center”, the Kaliningrad branch of Northern Research Institute and the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Kaliningradmeliovodhoz” for 15 years. During the study it was found that the operational reliability of hydraulic structures ranged from 30–70 % that did not meet the requirements of regulatory documents. About 40 % of the polder area today are in an unsatisfactory reclamation condition. The pumping station has a worn pumping equipment with excess power and pressure. The use of operating levels of pumping water by the pumping station number 20a for pre-sowing, vegetative and autumn-winter periods is justified. In the course of study, a connection between the absolute elevations of groundwater table and the absolute elevations of land surface, from which it is seen that it is advisable to sow crops on absolute elevations of land surface at 0.50–1.55 m was established. The conclusion about necessity of following actions can be drawn: improvement of the operational reliability of the right bank dam of Nemoninka river, replacement of pumping and power equipment of a pumping station with the energy saving one with a pressure of 2.57 m, the cleaning of the main and open canals, using sound operating levels of water pumping by a pumping station, adjusting the pumpdown performance using monitoring of groundwater level, using built-in dependencies to select the places where crops will be sown.
