INFLUENCE OF CROPS OF IRRIGATED GRAIN-FODDER CROP ROTATION ON AGRO-PHYSICAL AND AGROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SOIL

Abstract:

The aim of the research was to study the effect of individual crops of grain-fodder irrigated crop rotation on the agro-physical and agrochemical parameters of the soil. The studies were conducted in 2013–2017 on the irrigated dark chestnut soils of the experimental production farm of Volga Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation located in the dry steppe zone of the Volga region. The crop cultivation technology is traditional for the dry-steppe zone of Volga region under irrigation conditions. Studies dedicated to the determination of the agro-physical and agrochemical properties of soil and the processing of the data obtained were carried out according to generally accepted methods. The results of determining the granulometric and microaggregate compositions of the arable layer make it possible to ascertain that the content of physical clay fractions is 40.25–44.13 %, i. e. soils are generally classified as medium loamy, silty-clay, the Fageleru structure factor under all crops is 97–98 %, i. e. long-irrigated dark-chestnut soils have a rather high water resistance of microaggregates. When assessing the soil structure by water resistance, the number of water-resistant aggregates larger than 0.25 mm in size under all crops of crop rotation was no more than 12.16–21.68 %. It has been found that during irrigation on chestnut-type soils nutrient elements are removed from the arable layer of most crops: soil mobile nitrogen up to 80 %, labile phosphorus up to 30 % and exchangeable potassium up to 20 %. With an average degree of availability, the ratio N: P2O5 in fertilizers applied for cereals should be 1.5:1, for leguminous fodder – 1:2.
